The talented Irish folksinger, songwriter and illustrator, Sophie Coyle, releases her highly anticipated second album, Cuentista, this coming Friday, April 12th. Evoking the ambiance of a late-night tango bar, Coyle’s new album promises listeners an enchanting, immersive musical voyage through South America, encapsulating her own experiences, and tales from her travels. The new album builds on Coyle’s previous album, Blame Me for the Storm, which was long listed for Album of the Year at the Folk Awards.
The Dundalk based musician tells us that the album first came together in the early days of the pandemic, “We began recording in Black Mountain Studios at the start of the pandemic, and we welcomed another two kids into our lives along the way, making it an epic journey. Now, as we prepare to release the album, I couldn’t be happier. I feel that both the lyric writing and production have evolved significantly since the first album, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
There’s an opportunity to do just that at what promises to be a great evening out as Sophie plays live in Dublin’s Bello Bar this Friday, with special guests SELK and Gar Cox.
