There’s a lot of nostalgia rolling through town in June; Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, Gladys Knight, Peter Gabriel, Blur and Kraftwerk are all cropping up at some point. But Pulp is our pick of the lot. There’s a variety of reasons for this, one very simple one is that it is on a Friday.
This made be a crude means of evaluation but there’s a lot to be said in getting the weekend started with a gig rather than having mid-week hesitations and fears. The last time we caught Pulp here was back in 2011 at the Electric Picnic when Jarvis Cocker proved he’s up there with Jagger and Cave when it comes to a spindly-leg strut. Sadly sans Steve Mackey, their bass guitarist, who died last year, Pulp have witty bangers aplenty mostly culled from their Different Class and This is Hardcore. Let’s all meet up in the year 2023?
