Yes, it’s 14 years M.Ward released Post-War with its achingly beautiful opener Poison Cup. That was the one which flipped the switch here but his 2020 releases Migration Stories actually marks his tenth album release. Drawing on personal narratives and liminal places, Ward is the journeyman of his stories, whether dueting alongside Zooey Deschanel as She & Him, to studio work with Jenny Lewis, to teaming up with Conor Oberst. “I love playing the alchemist who gets to combine elements that shouldn’t go together, but every once in a while they do and it’s magic.” he says. He also recently released Think of Spring, an album of Billie Holiday covers.
