Irish folk duo Cry Monster Cry were just about to premiere their new documentary, When the Snow Falls I’ll Be Gone, on March 14th when the Coronavirus started to wreak havoc with cultural events. Nonetheless, in the spirit of solidarity, the band have decided to debut the documentary on March 20th at 7pm on their website and social media channels.
The film tells the story of Irish brothers Richie & Jamie Martin’s journey up the swiss alps, instruments on their backs, to play a concert in a cabin 2,200 metres above sea level. The journey to the venue (a traditional Swiss mountain cabin dating back to 1895 that sits on the edge of a cliff) saw them hiking for 10 hours, instruments on their backs. Directed and produced by Elijah Egan, the film is a wonderful insight into how far artists will go for their art, something that’s particularly relevant in these trying times.
