Baduizm is 21 years old. Yes, it’s all of 21 years since Erykah Badu told us that she wanted “a rim shot, hey, digi, digi”. And it still sounds freshly squeezed even if she’s now categorised as ‘The Godmother of Soul’ and mentor to artists like Drake. As part of a series of events around photographer Brian+, Badu is in town. “She’s regal—but she’s ghetto at the same time,” said a friend in a New Yorker profile in 2016.
