To coincide with the exhibition Double Vision, showing in dlr LexIcon Gallery from 3 February to 25 March, dlr Arts Office presents a day of design events called Colour, Surface, Pattern, Print. Co-ordinated by design curator Aideen McCole, the day features events for all ages exploring textiles, design, illustration and creative families, inspired by the work of Shirley and Diana Copperwhite.
Join designer Aoife Challis of Print Block for workshops for all ages to screen print your own colourful tote bag or tea towel, hear from a host of family design businesses and collaborations; including Catherine and Patricia McGinnis; the sisters behind Belfast Design Store Maven; Ruza Leko who creates Leko & Leko Jewellery with her father Ivan; Ailbhe Keane of Izzy Wheels; the wheelchair covers she designs with her sister Izzy and John Burke from the father and daughter team behind the Opedia book series. The day ends with a screening of Eames: The Architect and The Painter, a 2011 documentary about legendary American design duo Charles and Ray Eames by directors Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey.
