Chelsea Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the largest leak of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain. The junior intelligence analyst released over 251,000 diplomatic cables and more than 482,000 Army reports. Fortunately, President Obama commuted her sentence. She recently published a memoir README.txt, where she talks about the leaks and her experiences as a trans person in the army. She’s triggered discourse about whistleblowing, government transparency, and national security. Oh, and she also DJs on occasion.
