University College Dublin will partner with Imagine Science Film Festival to bring Ireland its first ever science based film festival. The festival will include a selection of international and Irish films that showcase various scientific topics. Festival leaders hope the films chosen will help fuel debate and discussion on how science impacts our lives.
Imagine Science Film Festivals have already been held in over 40 countries since its inception in 2008 by Alex Gambis, a scientist in New York. The goal of holding the event in Dublin is to catapult Ireland into the worldwide arena as a country who celebrates science through cinema, digital media and art.
Professor Cedric Villani will kick start the UCD Imagine Science Film Festival on the 5th of July by taking part in a discussion with internationally renowned writer/director team Rodrigo Sopena and Luis Piedrahita at the Irish Premiere of Fermat’s Room.
The festival will continue through 14th of July where it will close with the European Premiere of Planet Ocean. Screenings for the festival are being held at various locations around Dublin.
