With just two weeks to go until Vantastival returns to the banks of the Boyne in Drogheda for its 10th anniversary festival, stage times for the line-up have just been released. The festival opens its gates at 2.30pm on Friday 31st May for full 3-day ticket holders with music on the Firestone Music Station stage and the Woodland Stage from 6pm to midnight. The Young Folk will headline on Friday night, with Naoise Roo, Sylk and Runabay among the other acts to play.
Saturday’s stage line up kicks off at lunchtime with trad group Coscán getting proceedings underway at the Vantastival Main Stage at 1pm. The live music will continue all day on all three stages, with Main Stage culminating in an incredible night of Dundalk’s finest Just Mustard, the awesome Pillow Queens, Join Me In The Pines and headliners King Kong Company. Meanwhile over on the Woodland Stage, The Bonny Men will energise the afternoon crowd while later on Thanks Brother, Jaxson, Roe, We Cut Corners and Lisa O’Neill make for the most atmospheric of evenings in the most ambient of settings by the banks of the Boyne.
Over at the Firestone Music Station Beauty Sleep, Grainne Cotter and Don’t Fear the Natives are among the Saturday highlights, while on Sunday the Vantastival crowd will be treated to vocals that channel the spirit of Janice Joplin when the incredible Amy Montgomery takes to Main Stage in the early afternoon.
Later on a line-up of Sharon Shannon, David Keenan, Wallis Bird and Sunday headliners Afro Celt Sound System will be hard to beat, but venturing over to the Woodland Stage will find you in the audience for the inimitable Aindrias de Staic and his band The Latchikos, followed up by the evocative folk harmonies of Cry Monster Cry and then the one and only Jinx Lennon rounding off the night.
Winners of this year’s Firestone Road to the Main Stage competition, Molto Vivo, will headline a line up including Rebel Phoenix, Sick Love and Scally in the Firestone Music Station.
Festival organisers promise plenty more announcements in the next two weeks, including the line-up of environmental speakers taking part in Generation Hour sponsor by Indaver.
With the Glass House stage hosting acoustic sessions from more talented artists, a new stage in O’Hara’s Tow Bar and a brand new area called “Trad Folkin’ Rocks”, the June bank holiday weekend is going to be ta rocking one on the Boyneside!
