‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights’ is transforming the city centre with epic light features on landmarks, buildings, bridges, trees and throughout Merrion Square Park. The popular international artists competition returned, bringing creativity and inspiration to life in iconic locations. Artists from all over the world were invited to submit ideas. Eight artists were shortlisted for National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barrack and seven for the GPO.

 

‘Grow’ Light Projections at the GPO

Coexistence by Ari Dykier

The animated artwork explores how we grow as humans, society and civilisation to bring equality, freedom rights, making life easier and better than ever.

 

Kairos by OOOPStudio

Kairos means “the right moment”. The animated artwork explores AI and digital evolution, showing how they can transform architecture and drive growth in art and humanity.

 

Infinite by Christopher Harrisson and Jack Drewry

The animation explores the continuing cycle of growth and decay, industry vs nature. A lush forest is destroyed to house a giant machine, before nature reclaims its space.

 

Rebirth of Nature’s Symphony by Summer & Co Studio

Opening with scenes of lush greenery, vibrant landscapes, and tranquil waters, the animation represents humanity’s journey. As humanity emerges, small settlements evolve into bustling communities.

 

Harmonisation by EVM ART

The animation explores how people need to develop and grow in harmony with nature. It includes abstract and surreal transformations of symbols and buildings that engage the audience.

 

Glow Cipher by Snaplight

“Grow Reflections” explores the theme of growth. It merges fragmented visuals with symbolism, evoking resilience and growth in a captivating immersive experience.

 

Travels of the Lesser Centaury by Courtney Egan

The animation explores the whimsical ways that a plant can voyage and thrive in a new place. Plants from Ireland show up as unexpected residents of New Orleans.

Inner Artist by VJ Yarkus

This animation invites viewers to immerse themselves in a musical world of abstract digital painting. This promotes creativity and activates inner artist in everyone.

 

Intersperse by Metanoia

Intersperse is an immersive concept that combines two artistic approaches – colour fields and optical illusions. Colour field painting is combined with geometrical patterns, achieving the illusion of colour and space wrapping us into one whole symbiotic organism.

This animation immerses the audience in a future where humanity has irreversibly transformed the environment, taking the viewer on a journey through devastated landscapes of an almost recognizable

 

Lace Matrices by Kurbas Pro

Culture, art, and history have the potential for eternity, while human existence is temporary. This work immerses the viewer in a decorative web and ornamental matrix, weaving the viewer into the creation flow of colour and shape.

 

Inner Realms by Electrick.me

Through 360° projection mapping, the viewer delves into the inner realms of the psyche guided through four complex and often chaotic emotional states of the human mind. The work moves from exploring profound solitude to a celebration of the boundless creativity of the human mind.

 

The Civilisation of Nature by Pavee

This artwork presents a vision of what nature could develop its own civilization, one without human interference. New landscapes emerge with boundless potential and new environments are created from natural elements.

 

Odyssey by Rodar Studio

The viewer embarks on a surreal journey where light and colour breathe life into history. Large scale enigmatic figures traverse abstract landscapes, transforming architecture as they move. Mental Chaos
