Experience the charm of wandering from gig to gig at Howth Roots and Blues Festival, a vibrant and mostly free music festival set in the picturesque fishing village of Howth, just outside Dublin this August.
Now in its sixth year, Howth Roots and Blues Festival celebrates the finest Irish roots and blues artists, along with some outstanding international talent, performing an eclectic mix of great music for fans of Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Americana, and Reggae.
This year’s festival once again promises to be an unforgettable experience, with thirty-six free gigs across six unique venues around the village and the scenic hill of Howth, four exclusive ticketed headline shows at the historic Abbey Tavern, and one at Howth Angling Centre.
Headline acts include internationally acclaimed singer Mary Coughlan, Award winning blues artist Grainne Duffy, UK all star blues trio The Dirt Road Band, Award winning rock trio Crow Black Chicken, and living legend Rob Strong and his Band.
There’s also an incredible Lineup of FREE gigs including a who’s who of spectacular musical talent such as Mik Pyro & Dublin Blues Cartel, Mary Stokes Band, Doc MacLean, Bree Harris, The Skalps, The Stone Cold Hobo, and Susanne Rhattigan, as well as The Festival Rootenanny in the company of Paul Byrne and friends.
The festival is also blessed with an abundance of great venues throughout the scenic village of Howth. These include popular spots such as The Summit Inn, McNeills, Findlaters, and The Abbey Tavern, many of which have created outdoor spaces for summer gigs.
The Bloody Stream houses the Phil Lynott Stage in their tented beer garden, while O’Connells hosts the East Pier Stage, an outdoor performance space on the prom at The East Pier. Meanwhile The Harbour Bar hosts the Garden Stage, an intimate outdoor performance space in their covered beer garden.
It promises to be an august weekend for fans of roots and blues, where the only decision is who to see next.
