Alternating Current – Shout Out For Volunteers

Posted 4 weeks ago in Festival Features

Vinyl8.com – May 2025

The always brilliant Alternating Current (AC) Festival returns this weekend and organisers Dublin Digital Radio have just issued a call-out for Volunteers to help them bring experimental music, sound art, and multimedia performances to life across the city this weekend.

In addition to helping out at the festival volunteers will also have plenty of time to check out some great performances as this year’s theme, ‘Urban Scores’, sees Alternative Currents exploring our relationship with the city through sound and listening.

Festival goers can look forward to live performances, AV installations, workshops, and panel discussions,  as the fascinating festival blends an immersive and thought-provoking experience at the intersection of music and urban life.

A terrific series of performances over the weekend will include original and existing work by Irish and Irish based musicians and DJs, courtesy of a line-up featuring Mel Keane, Ian Nyquist, Landless, JWY, Mohammad Syfkhan, Wastefellow, Louise Gaffney, Lara Gallagher and more.

There’s also a site-specific commission by Cian McCarthy which takes place throughout the weekend at Flux Gallery.

An expression of interest form is available for Volunteers here.

Alternating Current takes place from Thursday May 1st to Sunday May 4th at various venues across the city, including Flux Studios, the Pepper Canister Church, and The Complex.
