A 2006 visit to New York’s seminal music venue and zine vendors The Cake Shop proved to be quite a life-changing event for Dubliner Sarah Bracken. Returning home with a suitcase packed with zines, she then set about making her own – self-publishing under the name BabyBEEF Art Press. Since then she’s been fanning the embers of Dublin zine culture – which, though steadily growing, is still yet to come into its own. The Dublin Zine Fair, now in its second year, is perhaps the most important of these efforts. Catch it on August 11th and 12th at Supafast, where live music, workshops and screenings will also be put on as part of the event – and perhaps even be inspired to take to the photocopier yourself.
