Project Arts Centre’s Annual Open Day returns on Saturday Nov 2nd, launching their brand-new merch collaboration with Ireland’s leading vintage retailer Tola Vintage.
As the Project Arts Centre Open Day enters its third year, the big blue building in the heart of Temple Bar is hosting a day of free accessible events this Saturday November 2nd. The packed programme includes performances, workshops, panel discussions, with live music and food presented by some of Ireland’s best up and coming creatives including Haus of Schiaparelli, Fortune Igiebor, Quilombo Terra and Disrupt Disability Arts Festival.
This Saturday also sees the launch of Project’s newest collaboration with vintage clothing emporium, Tola Vintage, as the Project hosts a Tola Vintage pop-up store in the building on the day, where browsers can check out their newest limited-edition merchandise collection. Entitled ‘Take Care of Each Other’, the collection has been exclusively designed by Irish Visual Artist and Designer Thomas Kettle with ultra cotton long sleeve tops, t-shirts and tote bags available to purchase on the day.
Shoppers will also have a chance to have a professional photo of themselves taken while wearing the merch in Tola’s pop-up photo studio in Project, and these images will be showcased to promote the collection across the Project Arts Centre and Tola Vintage website and socials. 100% of profits from this limited-edition merch collection will go towards a Black and Irish Artists’ initiative in Project Arts Centre.
This is Artistic Director Sophie Motley‘s first Annual Open Day as Artistic Director, and she says she is very excited about the big day. “Project’s Annual Open Day is for anyone who’s never been to Project, for artists who have never presented their work in Project, and for any community who has not yet seen their stories on our stages or in our spaces.
We’ll be sharing the very best and most exciting of dance, music and performance from artists who we know, and who can’t wait to get to know better. We hope that these artists inspire you to engage with Project in the future, and maybe even become a Project Artist one day”.
Speaking about the collaboration, Tola Vintage founder Ayuba Salaudeen said, “I’m super excited about this collaboration and I want to thank Project Arts Centre for this opportunity. I’m happy we can work on something that will benefit a lot of young Black people, and this will definitely open more doors for a lot of people in the future.”
The Open Day takes place at Project Arts Centre on Saturday Saturday Nov 2nd, when the entire building will be bursting with creative talent and art. The day will begin with a ‘quiet opening’ from 11am – 1pm which will hold space for artists, audiences and communities who would benefit from a sensory-adapted environment. Everyone is invited to take part in a variety of free accessible events, ranging from Krump and Voguing workshops, to performances and DJ sets, gallery tours, and delicious bites from around the world.
