For the first time in 25 years, Ireland will host a major exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso—one of the most revolutionary and influential artists of the 20th century.
Picasso: From the Studio, presented by the National Gallery of Ireland in collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris and proudly supported by KPMG Ireland, is a landmark exhibition offering visitors a unique glimpse into the private world of Picasso’s studios, where some of the most ground-breaking works of modern art were created. Running from 11 October 2025 to 22 February 2026, Picasso: From the Studio is set to be a cultural highlight of the year.
Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) lived surrounded by his art, with his personal life and creative process deeply intertwined. Picasso: From the Studio brings together 60 paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and works on paper, spanning over 50 years of his career. The exhibition journeys through the diverse phases, styles, and passions that defined Picasso’s work, from the vibrant studios of Montmartre in the 1920’s to the sunlit interiors of his final home in Mougins. Photographic and audio-visual elements will offer an immersive glimpse into his world, offering fresh perspective on how his surroundings influenced his artistic output.
Curated by Janet McLean, Curator of Modern Art, National Gallery of Ireland with Joanne Snretch, Curator of Paintings, Musée national Picasso-Paris, the exhibition presents both iconic masterpieces and lesser-known works. Highlights include A Bottle and Newspaper (1913) and Violin and Bottle on a Table (1915), created in Paris, and key examples of his pioneering Synthetic Cubism. Also featured are Tête de femme (1931–1932) and Portrait de Marie-Thérèse (1937), produced at the Château de Boisgeloup in Normandy, reflecting his intense relationship with Marie-Thérèse Walter.
One of his final works, Musician (1972), created in his studio in Mougins, will also be on display, encapsulating recurring motifs from his career—guitars, musicians, and eyes—blended together in his distinctive style.
Speaking about the forthcoming exhibition, Dr Caroline Campbell, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, said, “We are delighted to partner with KPMG Ireland for this major Picasso exhibition. Corporate sponsorships are invaluable to the Gallery, enabling us to present ambitious exhibitions. We are also most grateful to the Musée national Picasso-Paris for their collaboration and expertise in bringing this project to life. We look forward to working with KPMG to share Picasso’s creative process with audiences in Ireland and beyond.”
Seamus Hand, Managing Partner of KPMG Ireland, said, “At KPMG, we are committed to supporting cultural initiatives that enrich society whilst reaffirming Dublin as a great place to live and visit. ‘Picasso: From the Studio’ offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the most iconic and innovative artists of the 20th century in a new way, and we are proud to play a role in making this exhibition accessible to all.”
Joanne Snrech, Curator at the Musée Picasso national-Paris, added, “We are excited to collaborate with the National Gallery of Ireland on this important exhibition. Picasso’s studios were more than just work spaces—they were extensions of his creativity, shaping some of his most remarkable works. This exhibition will provide audiences with a rare glimpse into the environments, and how they fuelled his artistic genius.”
Picasso: From the Studio runs from 11 October 2025 to 22 February 2026 in the Beit Wing. Tickets start from €5. The Gallery would like to thank the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media for their ongoing support.
