A welcome return for this bittersweet journey through the world of depression. Originating as a short story by Duncan Macmillan who then teamed up with Jonny Donahoe to realise a stage adaptation which in turn lead to a HBO documentary with Tobey Maguire, this staging brings back Andrea Ainsworth (director) and Amy Conroy (narrator) to tell the story of an unnamed seven-year-old girl who makes a list of “every brilliant thing” that makes life worth living in the hope that she can make her mother feel better. The writing has been called “heartfelt and buoyant” and the production as “magically uplifting”. Audience members play an improvisational part too.
