The day had to come when Dizzee washed the grime off his high-tops and scrubbed up nice in a suit. Much has been made of this newer, starrier, self-produced incarnation of the erstwhile Grimelord -the superstar producers, the lad anthem single (Dance Wiv Me)- so its refreshing to find that Tongue In Cheek’pre-empts the clichés, turning the concept of ‘selling out’ inside out. Whether stressing that he’s still chill or taking shots at Paxman, Dizzee has made a self-assured move to the mainstream, but has kept his heart intact.
