Another week, another sterling Irish album to celebrate the appearance of. This week it’s the long-awaited return of Mumblin’ Deaf Ronan Hession. The follow up to his well-loved The Herring & The Brine, Dictionary Crimes is a careful and insightful musing on the meaning of family and belonging. The gentle instrumentation provides a subtly uplifting space for Ronan’s lyrics to work their magic within. A considered and assured take on folk and the art of the singer-songwriter.
Dictionary Crimes is released by Popical Island and gets a proper christening this Friday in Whelan’s.
You can stream the album in full right now over at Nialler9 and Ronan himself outlines the plan for the evening on his blog, http://dictionarycrimes.tumblr.com/.
