Whether this long-running festival makes it to its 20th edition remains to be seen, what with its lifeline of Arts Council funding having been completely cut. Therefore, bums on seats is of utmost importance for the 24 productions which will grace the stages around the city. As always, it’s likely to be a mixed bag, all suffused with heart and some imbued with more talent than others. And who best to judge than the audience? A sample of offerings include 333, the story of three men arrested when Toronto police, in 1981, raided several city bathhouses; the world premiere of Quilt, “a story of AIDS and Ireland using factual records, and some online testimonials” as well as Quickies, four short LGBTQ+ plays from Provincetown.
