This weekend, the Workman’s club have organised four nights of free entertainment covering all bases. Music, comedy, shopping, haircuts, films, all under one roof (and on one semi-roofed terrace).
Thursday night sees comedy duo Totally Wired take the stage and Shane O’Donaghue opening his ‘Misnomer’ exhibition upstairs.
It’s the turn of Katie Kim, Last Days of 1984 (check out their mix for us here) and Monto on Friday night, with DJs playing out until closing time.
Things kick off early on Saturday with the Richter Collective-curated pop-up shop from 1pm. VerseChorusVerse, Elaine Mai, The Man Whom and You Kiss By The Book will be keeping it acoustic with performances and whiskey tasting downstairs from 3pm. Don Conroy will be in the house in the afternoon for some drawing/nostalgia workshops and there’ll be a market on the terrace. Night-time entertainment will be provided by Overhead The Albatross, Alarmist and Kid Karate on stage from 8pm.
Sunday is a more relaxing affair with edgy hairdos with Sean Bryan upstairs and an Oxfam vintage shop on the terrace from 3pm and a screening of Leaving Cert-classic ‘Cinema Paradiso’ at 8pm. Paula Cullen of September Girls will be orchestrating a vintage dress dance from 11pm.
All in all, a busy weekend and not half bad for zero cash.
