With ‘wet’ pub re-openings pushed back to the end of August, at the earliest, the future for many is precarious. Director Gar O’Rourke and photographer Liam Murphy visited some of the most popular haunts in the city to gauge the impact this closure has had on Dublin’s iconic pub owners. These are portraits of a shuttered city, a shared fear of the unknown and what may happen next to one of the centrepieces of our social life.
You can view Gar’s film here and Liam’s portraits will be in the September issue of our magazine which is out on August 11.
