Photographer Eoin Greally reveals the story behind this month’s Totally Dublin Fashion Photoshoot.
“The concept was definitely a lot looser to begin with – we were mainly focused on the aesthetics but, in a way, I think the story built itself around that.
It was shot in a house originally built in a council estate hidden over the Luas line off Charlemont Street. The area has been entirely modernised since the houses in it were built but even in an area that is changing so rapidly, the estate still has the innate feeling of life and colour that Dublin City has always had.
The shoot revolved around the colours we wanted to use in the styling but I don’t think we realised how much we could mesh that into the culture and story of the area we were shooting it in.
It felt right to shoot it on analog because of the classic Dublin style we felt ourselves going in, so I shot the entire story on a mixture of 35mm and medium format film.
It continued on the contrasting classic/modern feeling we were going for as well as making sure the colour was captured in the way that we intended.”
