The Australian drummer and guitarist Ambarchi marked his 50th birthday and the tenth anniversary of his Black Truffle imprint with a weekend-long residency at London’s Cafe Oto in May and graces the current issue of Wire. A composer, multi-instrumentalist and musical polymath, Ambarchi’s output is prolific and collaborations wide-ranging. His latest release Simian Angel is an immersive audio-flow across experimental terrains, both familiar and new to his fans, and features the legendary Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista.
