In the back of a taxi reminiscent of the London kind is the last place you might expect a film festival to take place. Aptly named “Cine- Cab” and hosted by Not Saying Boo and The Beatyard, Eat My Shorts Film Festival was one that stood out as innovative and quirky from the first year in 2010.

From the back of taxis to the fields of Castlepalooza, (dirty) the festival is growing and cultivating a following of film lovers all over Ireland. The totally free event was developed by student film-maker Suri Grennell and graphic designer Dermot Collins. The festival is independently run, and is funded via an online donation platform Fundit.ie. With the target of €1500 reached, Eat My Shorts is well under way.

Back for its third year, Eat My Shorts will take place at The Twisted Pepper, June 9. The all-day festival will feature 50 national and international short films, as well as workshops and panel discussions with renowned filmmakers. The workshops will cover various aspects of film making, including pre and post production, scriptwriting and audio from some of the best in the industry.

The Brief Brief

This year Eat My Shorts is giving novice film-makers the opportunity to win two free tickets to Castlepalooza. The theme for the 90 second short film is ‘brief.’ Ahhh yes, the brief brief- it makes sense now. Brief can be taken in any sense of the word. Get filming and good luck!
