Le Galaxie
Pleasure
[Red River]
For Le Galaxie, stylised, dance-worthy electro-pop is par for the course.
The most conspicuous progression on their third full-length is the promotion of MayKay (Fight Like Apes) to full-timer.
Less concerned with conjuring a calculated retrofuturism, Pleasure eliminates some of the Dubliners’ rose-tinted affection for the 1980s’, yet retains plenty of fodder for this year’s festival circuit.
Le Galaxie’s quest to bottle the lightning of those euphoric live shows earns them a free pass on some mid-album sagging, – what stands out here is that new-found commitment to push beyond nostalgic rear-view mirror gazing.
