You just can’t keep a good thing down. After a something of a renaissance in the last decade (perhaps partly inspired by some sampling by the Sugababes), Gary Numan has retained his place as one of the most enduring icons of the 80s pop world. Growing darker and more sinister with age, his initial pop sensibility mixed with dystopian post-punk dissent to create a sound that has been emulated by many but never bettered. Still feeling and sounding dangerous after all these years, Numan continues to prove that anger is indeed an energy.
