Renowned street artist – and some time designer of whiskey bottles – James Earley is kicking off a new series of talks this weekend in the Dean Hotel. The Sunday Edition will be bringing artists down to Harcourt Street to chat for about 40 minutes of their work, their process, their influences, their passions and to showcase selections of their work.
At the first edition, kicking off at 2pm and running until 5.30pm on Sunday 3rd July, the speakers will include Le Bas (above) who mixes both architectural and graffiti influences in his work and Colm MacAthlaoich (below) who plays with re-interpreting traditional ideas of painting and printmaking using a variety of social influences.
Says Earley, “We’ve been spoilt with some amazing international and national calibre Offset has provided and recently, the sheer energy and variety of Socialise [from ICAD]. However, these cover different creative sectors to what I have planned. The Sunday Edition is the a series of talks promoting emerging contemporary Irish artists.”
This is not Earley’s first project where he’s been pushing other artists to the forefront of course, as he is also the man behind Iverna, an online gallery-cum-shop of Irish design and art work which he curates. At the Sunday Edition, Iverna will have their own print collection on display too, and there will also be refreshments on offer after the artists’ talks.
The Sunday Edition will be an ongoing event, with the next one slated for September with the date to be confirmed.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite at the-sunday-edition-1.eventbrite.ie and cost a mere €6 + a booking fee. The Sunday Edition is a non-profit event with the proceeds funding each future edition.
