Adrian Grunberg is no stranger to the film making world having spent most of his life as a second unit director on projects like Apocalypto, Man On Fire, Master & Commander. This newest project however marks his debut as a writer/ director and he’s by no means starting off small. Get The Gringo (as was its original title) is set in Mexico with our protagonist Mel Gibson (the Gringo) being imprisoned for his criminal activities. He later falls for a local woman and vows to keep her kid safe from the criminals who pursue them.
The trailer is crafted beautifully – Mel Gibson’s narration playing off like he’s writing a postcard to his mum juxtaposed with some lovely action sequences and stand off wit that we’ve come to expect from good ‘aul lovable Riggs himself.
First timers are always a tricky one to call but with vast (albeit 2nd unit) experience and the deft touch of Gibson (rarely a disappointment in the action genre) Summer Vacation looks set to prove that he’s still not to old for this shit.
