Some of the world’s greatest pit-masters will be cooking up a storm at the Big Grill BBQ & Craft Beer Festival in Herbert Park this month. This year’s august lineup includes Tyson Ho and Reggae Reggae sauce creator Levi Roots, while away from the meat, 3FE’s Colin Harmon hosts a demonstration on traditional coffee brewing methods using live fire. From its humble beginnings in a disused Blackrock warehouse eight years ago, Dublin Cookery School is now a state of the art facility. The school offers a suite of culinary training courses, and Head Chef Lynda Booth is currently inviting applications for their professional three-month certificate cookery course. Starting in September, the course offers a practical route to acquiring the skills needed to pursue a career in the food industry. The enthusiastic efforts of local brewers have seen the range of Irish craft beers and ciders grow steadily in the past few years, and their efforts are celebrated at this month’s Irish Craft Beer and Cider Festival. Featuring over two hundred innovative microbreweries, the festival is a great opportunity to sample the fantastic diversity of brews now emerging.
