All good friends fight, with verbs, with fists, or in some cases, with vinyl. !K7 Records’ long-running DJ Kicks series last year released a turntable punch-up between Brooklyn house heavyweights, Wolf and Lamb, and their sometime labelmates Soul Clap – it was a pretty decent scrap, but thankfully no-one got hurt.
Tote bags at dawn! The two crews revisit their friendly rivalry in Dublin this month with a versus set in the Button Factory. Just to prove there’s no ill will, the Clap boys have chosen their five favourite releases on the W&L label since its inception in 2005.
Wolf + Lamb ft. Smirk – Therapist
The deepest track on the duo’s first vinyl EP, this one just never gets old. It also showcases Smirk at his twisted best.
Gadi Mizrahi – Set Your House
Gadi’s first real solo jaw dropper. A mood that perfectly reflects the vibe of the Marcy Hotel dance floor at the height of the party.
Zev – Don’t Break It
Zev’s foray into breakbeats, this one may be his best work. So perfectly simple with the ultimate catchy but not cheesy vocal.
No Regular Play – Owe Me

The most slept on producers on the label, show us their sexy side. If it’s booty grinding sleaze you need, look no further.
Nicolas Jaar – Time For Us

Still one of Nico’s finest works to date. This song has yielded more baby making than a stockpile of viagra.
Soul Clap fight Wolf and Lamb over the Button Factory decks on the 27th April – tickets are now available for €15 inclusive of booking fees.
