Pudsey the Dog: The Movie
Director: Nick Moore
Talent: Richard Aloi, Hayley Joanne Bacon, Alex Ball
Release Date: 18th July 2014
Pudsey the Dog: The Movie has its origins in Britain’s Got Talent, the titular pooch being the winner of the 2012 season of said talent show. This is, first and foremost, a cynical film: small-screen fare on the big screen that would even look out of place on public broadcast children’s television; shot over a short period, with a script that Cowell and company seem to have adapted from a 1950s issue of The People’s Friend, which sees Pudsey caught up in the middle of a countryside land dispute.
This is cheap filmmaking at its cheapest, without any signs of real production design or thought, it’s grotty and horrible. However, it does have one four-legged thing going for it: Pudsey. He’s the best part, expressive in his acting and a good dancer to boot: a morsel of joy in this dog’s dinner of crassness.
