Making The Scene is a collection of talks and demonstrations by some of the country’s best fashion photographers and stylists, who give insight into their methods, processes and their experiences within the industry. Speakers include Aisling Farinella, Ruth Anna Coss, Johnny McMillan, Barry McCall, Sarah Doyle and Conor Clinch. Find out all about in our piece about it right here.

Laya Healthcare City Spectacular

The Laya Healthcare Street Performance World Championship has transformed this year into the Laya Healthcare City Spectacular. The first weekend – this coming weekend – still sees the festival take over Merrion Square and play host to the Street Performers and a feast of family fun, but there are also events throughout the following two weeks ongoing in variety of venues throughout the city. Swedish ensemble KROCK specialise in playing contemporary music for electric guitars and electronics and since forming in 2005 have commissioned and premiered more than 30 pieces from internationally renowned composers.

Who doesn’t like a good improv-centric Friday night wig-out in the Joinery? Raising Holy Sparks is a project that sees David Colohan, solo or with a rotating crew of friends, exploring music informed by drone, folk, free jazz & kosmische. Be Honest explores field recording and soundscapes, while MacDiarmada is one of the city’s most renowned improvisers. No squares allowed!

DIY Super Hero Heels Class

Sunday 13 July | White Lady Art | Free

Do your heels need a spruce? This art class will get you cutting out comics and glueing them onto your old worn out pair of heels, and back on the scene looking better than new! They will provide stacks of old Marvel comics for your shoes, glue, brushes, and everything else.
