The Losers

Posted May 26, 2010 in Cinema Reviews

Following on his recent foray into comic book movies, Jeffrey Dean Morgan swaps the Comedian’s badge for Clay’s trademark black, tie-less suit in the adaptation of Vertigo Comic’s lesser known, The Losers. Betrayed by someone within their own government, Clay and Co, (which includes Idris Elba and Chris Evans) team up with Aisha (Zoe Saldana) to get revenge.

Taking itself far less seriously than most comic book movies do, The Losers is a very silly film, it feels like a cross between the A-Team and Hot Shots. It’s your typical summer blockbuster, something you’ll sit down and watch while stuffing yourself with copious amounts of popcorn. It’s got some charm and a good sense of humour which saves it. It also has a wonderfully sly and humorous baddie in enigmatic Max (The brilliant Jason Patric). Its box office takings will dictate whether the Losers will return to our screens. For now though, this is mindless but fun entertainment.
