Lunar New Year – Asia Market X Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin

Posted 8 hours ago in Food & Drink Features

It was while on a trip to China that PJ Rigney was first inspired to distil an oriental-inspired Irish gin using gunpowder tea as its principal botanical. Now in a nice hat tip to its origin story, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is teaming up with Asia Market for an immersive cocktail-making collab as part of this year’s Lunar New Year festivities.

Under the expert stewardship of the gin’s global brand ambassador Cian Wrynne and mixologist Gary Quinn, participants will be tutored in making a brace of Asian-influenced drinks using a choice of one of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin’s four different editions, or Nikka Japanese Whiskey as a base.

Cocktail lovers then get to choose their pick of botanicals from the twelve used to produce Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, which will be infused in a teapot and added to their gin to create a personalised cocktail designed to their own individual tastes.

The ‘Snake In The Glass’ Cocktail Class takes place from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday Jan 30th in J. T. Pim’s on South Great George’s Street. Tickets €50pp + booking fee are available via Asia Market’s listing on Eventbrite.
