Who’ll Care, Who’ll Even Remember? is an art exhibition honouring the late influential musician and artist John Balance, best known as a co-founder of the experimental music group Coil, in collaboration with his partner Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson. He was responsible for the majority of Coil’s vocals, lyrics and chants, along with synthesizers and various other instruments both commonplace and esoteric. Outside Coil he collaborated with Cultural Amnesia, Nurse with Wound, Death in June, Psychic TV, Current 93, produced several Nine Inch Nails remixes and wrote soundtracks, most notably for Derek Jaman’s Blue.
The exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of his premature passing, and will have two primary influences: archival and contemporary. The curations of the archival portion will include art by Balance himself, while the contemporary segment will be the works of his friends and collaborators.
Gallery X, 11 Hume St, D2. until December 21st.
