Dublin City Council is excited to announce the much-anticipated return of the Dublin City Council Smithfield Fleadh, a vibrant celebration of Irish traditional music set to take over Smithfield Square on 24th and 25th August. This free, family-friendly festival will run from 12pm to 6pm each day, transforming Dublin’s largest outdoor event space into a lively hub of music, dance, and community spirit.
A Festival Brimming with Talent
The Dublin City Council Smithfield Fleadh continues to build on the success of previous years, showcasing the dynamic and diverse world of traditional Irish music. This year’s festival promises a rich lineup of performances featuring both internationally acclaimed artists and emerging local talents, offering a comprehensive experience of Ireland’s musical heritage.
Saturday’s Line-up
Saturday’s festivities will kick off with the debut performance of Gaylí, a high-energy group known for their infectious rhythms and lively shows. Their performance is sure to get everyone on their feet and dancing, setting the stage for a fun-filled weekend.
The day will continue with a stellar performance by Paddy Keenan, renowned for his work with The Bothy Band. He will be joined by the exceptional Aoife Ní Bhriain, Daoirí Farrell, and Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin. Their performance on the Main Stage is anticipated to be a festival highlight, blending traditional melodies with contemporary styles.
Sunday’s Highlights
Sunday will see the much-loved Fingal Mummers return to enchant the crowd with their unique blend of traditional music and storytelling. As the festival draws to a close, the legendary Frankie Gavin and Dé Dannan will bring their renowned high-energy performance to the Main Stage, promising a memorable end to the weekend.
