Two superb photography exhibitions are currently running in the Photo Museum Ireland on Meeting House Square until August 24th. Featuring work by 28 artists, these exhibitions present an overview of diverse photographic work selected by leading experts in African photography.

Gallery 1 houses The Contemporary African Photography Prize 2024, with the five winning artists, Lina Geoushy, Ahmed Khirelsid, Tshepiso Moropa, Kriss Munsya and Farren Van Wyk, featured.

A projection installation also showcases 25 artists shortlisted for this prestigious award, selected by an international panel of photography experts.

The five winning projects of the CAP Prize 2024 were announced last month during the opening week of Les Rencontres de la Photographie Arles at MIRAGE Photobook Fair in France.

Established in 2012, the CAP Prize is the international award for contemporary African photography created on the African continent, or which engages with the African diaspora.

Gallery 2 hosts the Photo Museum Ireland African-Irish Artist Residency Award 2024-2025, a prestigious initiative established by Photo Museum Ireland to support, develop and amplify the voices of African-Irish artists and those with African heritage living in Ireland.

This award seeks to foster creativity, artistic exchange, and professional growth by providing artists with the resources, support and opportunities needed to develop their artistic practices. This year’s awards go to Ishmael Claxton, Sabrina Faria and Tolu Ogunware.
