The Kaleidoscope series welcomes 2018 with a programme of 16th and 17th Italian quartets, a flute/violin/viola trio by 19th century German composer Max Reger, a Chinese folk duo and multimedia work by Ian Wilson for violin soloist. The original founder of the Kaleidoscope series, Cliodhna Ryan is the featured violin soloist, performing Ian Wilson’s “Feldwege/Holzwege”, a suitably meditative work that also incorporates live electronics and film, the latter part produced by Johnnie Lawson. Countertenor Mark Chambers leads the forces, comprising trumpet, baroque guitar and harpsichord, in the Italian renaissance and baroque music while series’ overseers Karen Dervan (viola) and Lina Andonovska (flute) are joined by Larissa O Grady for the charming Max Reger work. And in a genre-debut for the series, Chinese musicians Jiani Liu Doyle (guzheng) and Li Chen Lu (Chinese flute) will share their folk music and talents with the intimate Bello Bar audience.
