The death of composer Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin last month saw another light in the firmament of cultural giants being quenched. Wherever he may be, one hopes he’s reflecting on matters with the poet John Montague who left us in 2016. This is a celebratory performance of The Wild Dog Rose, an album which Montague released with poet and close friend Muldoon on Claddagh Records, whose founder Garech de Brún also passed away in 2018. Muldoon will read John’s words alongside uileann piper and tin whistler Paddy Moloney and harpist from The Chieftains.
