September is fast approaching and the city’s jazz lovers are in for a real treat as the hotly anticipated 12 Points Festival presents 4 nights of next-generation jazz featuring 12 exciting emerging jazz acts from across Europe, with daytime ‘Jazz Futures’ industry conference and after-hours jam sessions. Catch a sneak preview of all 12 artists performing at this year’s festival here.
Dublin-based Improvised Music Company (IMC), have pulled out all the stops for the third night of the festival which features Éna Brennan aka Dowry (Dublin), Elliot Galvin Trio (London) and Container Doxa (Ljubljana).
The only soloist at 12 Points this year, the violin of Ena Brennan aka ‘Dowry’ fuses multiple sound worlds, blending experimental folk, ambient improvisation and Irish traditional music to create a haunting live experience.
Maverick pianist Elliot Galvin is quite possibly one of the UK’s most inventive instrumentalists, obliterating trends and banishing stereotypes with toys, stylophones, cassette loops, electronics and more creating brilliantly executed bright ideas.
From abstract sounds and visual shapes, Doxa infuse contemporary club music with the protocols of free improvisation and jazz futurism, recasting ideas from multiple music constellations.
We have one pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader for the second last night of 12 Points on Friday September 7th. To be in with a chance of winning make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter and tell us the answer to the following question:
