Saul Williams has been breaking ground in hip-hop since his debut album, Amethyst Rock Star, was released in 2001. Before that, he was a Grand Slam poetry champion, and his open-mic spoken word background shows in his music. He’s played venues from the White House or the Sydney Opera House to community centers and prisons across the world.
Collaborators include The Fugees, Tupac Shakur, Nine Inch Nails and Allen Ginsburg. He cites Beyoncé, Fredo Santana, and Haitian field recordings as musical inspirations.
