Holly Herndon doesn’t fit neatly into any box, be it musician, performer, composer, or academic – but her art brings all of those strands together, creating a frequently glitching aesthetic that links the most modern of instruments – the laptop – with the most primal one – the voice. Her second full length Platform, released earlier this year on 4AD, is a cerebral cocktail of elaborate Meredith Monk-style explorations of the human voice and crushed digital flickers of the overload of information that is the constantly surveilled contemporary Western existence, a soundscape that calls to mind other sonic auteurs like Daniel Lopatin. Needless to say, her show at Tiger Dublin Fringe is definitely going to be a musical highlight!
We’ve got a pair of tickets for Holly Herndon’s special show as part of Tiger Dublin Fringe in the Spiegeltent on Thursday 17th September at 9pm. To be in with a chance to win just comment ‘HOLLY’ below.
