Last Night At The Jetty

Given the frequency with which we slobber over any recorded noise he makes, it may seem that we are part of some unofficial Panda Bear fan club, and in truth that’s because we are. Following on from two recent 7″ releases previewing his next album, Last Night At The Jetty is another episode of harmony vocals, smudged and blurred guitar and end-of-the-summer nostalgia.

Given the weight of expectation to follow up Person Pitch its easy to see how these releases can be seen as somewhat underwhelming, especially considering their more stripped back and (relatively) stark production. However, taking a step back from the internet hype-world and listening to this gem makes us realize what a songwriter this guy is. It’s the sort of song you can imagine dressed up in the threads of Sung Tongs or Merriweather Post Pavilion and still standing out.

The B-Side Drone is less interesting and sounds a part of an album rather than a particularly interesting on its own. This time its all about the A-Side.

Available from Insound or digitally from iTunes on 12th Dec.
