Alex Calder

Strange Dreams

[Captured Tracks]

It would have been some shout if you’d pegged the other half of Alex Calder’s previous gig, Project Makeout Videotape, to end up being the closest thing we have to an indie rockstar, but Mac DeMarco surprised us all. Calder and DeMarco’s shared heritage reveals itself in the guitar tones employed here, though Calder seems to favour ploughing a darker, more outré furrow than his brother in twang. Characterised by a somnambulant unease in the style of Atlas Sound, Strange Dreams is as hauntingly infectious as it is aptly titled.
