Sleater-Kinney

No Cities to Love

[Sub Pop]

Before their hiatus began almost a decade ago, Sleater-Kinney stood as some of modern punk’s greatest agitators, aggressive and self-righteous. After these past nine years observing the world, they sound despairing, even afraid. Far from softening their bellicosity, though, fear seems only to have further inflamed them. While retaining their gratifying riffs and slightly sardonic lyrics, they sound more sincere, determined and moral than ever. They haven’t come back to change the world – they’ve come back to save it.
