May the Fourth Be… Kaleidoscope at Bello Bar

Posted May 4, 2016 in Gig Previews

The penultimate show of Kaleidoscope’s first inspirational season at Bello Bar boasts the illustrious talents of December’s guest curator, Marja Gaynor (baroque violin) and Louth traditional fiddler Gerry O Connor, soloists in an electric classical-baroque-meets-Irish-traditional work by Irish composer Rachel Holstead called “Ardee Dances”.

Romania-based Moldovan saxophonist Alexander Arcus joins forces with bodhrán-maestro Aimee Farrell Courtney, reading rhythm its rights as a duo they call Crosswinds.

EnsemBéal (vocal trio) present Jennifer Walshe’s “The Soft Menagerie” and a delightful Boccherini string quintet (with double bass) Op. 39 no. 2 performed by Anita Vedres, Marja Gaynor, Aoife Durnin, Aoife Nic Athlaoich and Malachy Robinson completes the program me.  Nothing at all to do with Star Wars….but it’s a good gig title isn’t it?!
