The Fat Fox

The Fat Fox has been quietly bagging its fair share of breakfast and lunchtime trade since first opening off Camden Street last September. Co-owned by chef Claire Cullen and partner Rob Hallinan, the tasty takeaway specializes in deli sandwiches of substance, including daily brioche bun specials packed with fillings such as slow cooked beef brisket with carmelised onion relish. The local deli also carries a delicious selection of home made brownies and sausage rolls, while the house roast comes courtesy of Baobab Roasters. Open Monday to Friday at 38 Camden Row, Dublin 2

Valentine Dining At The Dylan

Scoring a Valentine’s dinner for two can sometimes prove tricky, so word that the Dylan’s Valentine Tasting menu will be available from February 10th to 18th was music to our ears. A quick look at the tempting six-course extravaganza reveals a mouthwatering selection devised by head chef Mark Brodie. A nice choice of mains includes a gorgeous sounding Irish beef rib eye accompanied by potato fondant, Duxelle and pickled wild mushroom and celeriac. The Dylan’s signature Valentine Tasting menu costs from €55 per person, or €105 with wine pairing. www.dylan.ie

Dine in Dublin

With the rigours of January finally behind us, lovers of food and drink can now savour the prospect of the forthcoming Dine in Dublin food festival, which takes place at the end of the month. Organised by Dublintown.ie the Dine in Dublin festival celebrates its ninth year with a host of great events, each set to showcase the many fine wares the city’s restaurants have on offer. The festival takes place from 27th February to March 5th and details of all events can be found on www.dineindublin.ie

Lily’s Café

North of the Liffey, breakfast and brunch is the order of the day at Lily’s Café, which opened for business on Cavendish Row just before Christmas. The all day breakfast menu includes a substantial full Irish, alongside lighter choices including Eggs Benedict and homemade pancakes served with seasonal fruit and maple syrup. The Northside café has already succeeded in carrying off a relaxed ambiance with attentive service, and given its location near Parnell Square, is an ideal meeting spot for those in need of some pre-demo sustenance.
