One of the first coming-of-age college flicks of the New Year, Post Grad circles on the rather pedestrian life of Ryden Malby, played by former Gilmore Girls leading lady Alexis Bledel. After working hard through college, Ryden’s life shifts course when she doesn’t get the dream publishing job she wanted and is thus forced to move back home. The movie then enters sitcom territory when the Malby family emerge as a zany Malcolm In The Middle-style bunch with Michael Keaton in the unlikely role of Dad. Meanwhile, the confusing times continue for our heroine with the entrance of hot neighbour David and when her best friend starts making moves on her. Unlikely to gain an Oscar nod, Post Grad is a heartfelt endeavour about the search for direction and the waiting game before all things fall into place.
